2019 Football Clinic

The Inter-Athletic Council of Officials (IACO) will be holding its 48th annual IHSA certified high school football officials clinic at Naperville North High School, 899 N. Mill St., IL 60563 on Saturday, August 10, 2018. Doors open at 7:00 AM, sessions begin at 8:00 AM. Online, pre-registration fee is $35.00 if received before 8/3/2019, registration fee received on or after 8/3/2019 or paid at the door is $45.

This year’s keynote speaker will be, George McCaskey, Chairman of the Chicago Bears.  Also speaking will be, Sam Knox, Assistant Executive Director of the IHSA.

Beginning at 7:00 AM vendors will have officiating equipment for sale, often at special clinic discount prices. Try on apparel before you buy and stock-up before the season begins.

Game Assignments: Local assignment chairs have been invited to be present.  Take this opportunity to introduce yourself to the people who do the hiring.  And remember to bring your calendar with the dates you are available to officiate.

A luncheon is included. Plus, there is a chance to win gift certificates from the vendors.

2019 Football Training Class

The Football Officials Training Class prepares the participant by covering game rules, play situations, penalty enforcement, game timing, and mechanics (positioning) through presentations and game film review. After completion of the class and earning an IHSA (Illinois State High School Association) sports officiating license, you will be given the opportunity to be assigned to officiate high school football games for the upcoming season. Officials with 1-2 years experience also find this class very advantageous and are welcome to attend.

Fee FREE! *plus officials applying thru the class for their first IHSA license pay only $35 (normally $70). You must apply thru the class at the first session and not be licensed with the IHSA in any other sport to receive the discount.

LATE SUMMER Beginning Umpire Clinic

The Inter-Athletic Council of Officials (IACO), Metro-Chicago is hosting Beginning Umpire Clinic, which is designed for new Umpires with little or no experience. Umpires who have not attended an IHSA clinic or who have never umpired a high school game will find this clinic helpful. Our goal is to help you acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to improve your skills as an umpire. We encourage experienced officials from other sports who are just starting as a softball or baseball umpire to join us. We will also assist in registering new umpires. Umpires from youth and park district leagues are welcome to attend. The clinic will be in Northfield with instruction directed by Illinois High School Association Certified Clinicians. The IHSA registered official who attends at least 3 of the 4 sessions will get IHSA Level 1 Baseball or Softball Clinic Credit.

The clinics will be in Northfield, Chicago Heights, Kishwaukee College, Bolingbrook, Rockford and Libertyville, with instruction directed by Illinois High School Association Certified Clinicians.The IHSA registered official who attends at least 3 of the 4 sessions will get IHSA Level 1 Baseball or Softball Clinic Credit.

2018 Basketball Clinic

Saturday, Nov 3Inter-Athletic Council of Officials (IACO), will be hosting our annual basketball clinic at Wheaton North High School, which is located at 701 W Thomas Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187 Doors will open at 7:00 AM and the clinic starts at 8:30 AM and is expected to end at 12:30 pm. Vendors will be available until 130 pm. Online pre-registration before Friday, Nov 2 is $25 or $30 at the door.

Attending the IACO Basketball Clinic should be a high priority for all Chicagoland IHSA basketball officials. Most of the instructors are IHSA Certified Clinicians or officials who have worked the IHSA State Finals. The IHSA has implemented some mechanics changes that will be presented at the clinic. All current rule and mechanic changes will be covered throughout the day.

The clinic will run on a 3 track system which is actually three clinics in one. Track 1 for new officials, Track 2 for 2-person mechanics, and Track 3 for 3-person mechanics. You can switch tracks throughout the day. The clinic will begin with Opening Remarks in the Cafeteria at 8:30 AM followed by a 65-minute presentation by IACO Clinic Chairman and IHSA Basketball Rules Interpreter Fred Allman. Fred will go through the rule changes, editorial changes and clarifications, points of emphasis and other information from the IHSA. There may also be some time for questions. Fred’s presentation WILL NOT satisfy the Rules Meeting requirement. YOU MUST VIEW THE ONLINE RULES MEETING TO RECEIVE CREDIT.
