2017 Football Training Class
July 11 The Football Officials Training Class prepares the participant by covering game rules, play situations, penalty enforcement, game timing, and mechanics (positioning) through presentations and game film review. After completion of the class and earning an IHSA (Illinois State High School Association) sports officiating license, you will be given the opportunity to be assigned to officiate high school football games for the upcoming season. Officials with 1-2 years experience also find this class very advantageous and are welcome to attend.

2017 IACO Umpire Clinics
The Inter-Athletic Council of Officials (IACO), Metro-Chicago is again hosting Beginning Umpires Clinics. This is a Beginning Umpires Clinic designed for new Umpires with little or no experience or for umpires registered for several years and have not attended a clinic or in some cases have never umpired a high school game. Our goal is to help you acquire the knowledge and skills necessary improve your skills as an umpire. We encourage experienced officials from other sports who are just starting as a softball or baseball umpire to join us. We will also assist in registering new umpires. Umpires from youth and park district leagues are welcome to attend as well. This year we again have 6 clinic sites to make it more convenient for you to attend. The clinics will be in Northfield, Chicago Heights, Roselle, Bolingbrook, Rockford and Mundelein, with instruction from Illinois High School Association Certified Clinicians. The clinics will be 4 sessions in length and the IHSA registered official who attends at least 3 of the 4 sessions will get IHSA Level 1 Baseball or Softball Clinic Credit.

2016 Basketball Clinic
OCT22 Saturday, October 22nd, the Inter-Athletic Council of Officials (IACO), will be hosting our annual basketball clinic at Hoffman Estates High School, which is located at 1100 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates, IL. Doors will open at 7:00 AM and the clinic starts at 8:30 AM. Pre-registration online is $30 or $40 at the door.
Attending the IACO Basketball Clinic should be a high priority for all Chicagoland IHSA basketball officials. Most of the instructors are IHSA Certified Clinicians or officials who have worked the IHSA State Finals. The IHSA has implemented some mechanics changes that will be presented at the clinic. All current rule and mechanic changes will be covered throughout the day.
The clinic will run on a 3 track system which is actually three clinics in one. Track 1 for new officials, Track 2 for 2-person mechanics, and Track 3 for 3-person mechanics. You can switch tracks throughout the day. The clinic will begin with Opening Remarks in the Cafeteria at 8:30 AM followed by a 65-minute presentation by IACO Clinic Chairman and IHSA Basketball Rules Interpreter Fred Allman. Fred will go through the rule changes, editorial changes and clarifications, points of emphasis and other information from the IHSA. There may also be some time for questions. Fred’s presentation WILL NOT satisfy the Rules Meeting requirement. YOU MUST VIEW THE ONLINE RULES MEETING TO RECEIVE CREDIT.
Continental breakfast and hot buffet luncheon are included in the registration fee. Honig’s Whistle Stop, Gerry Davis and Official’s Call will be present to sell officiating equipment from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Try it on before you buy and get the latest in official’s gear only at IACO.

2016 Basketball Training Class
The New Officials Basketball Class prepares the participant to officiate high school basketball games. The 7 week course includes classroom instruction on the rules of the high school basketball game and appropriate officiating mechanics. Appropriate officiating philosophy for high school is also discussed. The class provides sufficient training to obtain a basketball officiating license from the State of Illinois.
